ENVORONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE:

Gender and environment is RAC’s main priorities. RAC has been implementing a project on Human Rights in Extractive Industry of Afghanistan. Afghanistan is the third most vulnerable country to climate changes worldwide. HRRAC suggests that there is urgent needs for innovative actions aiming at increased climate resilience of communities across Afghanistan. In Human rights in mining's project, environmental protection is one of the main components under which RAC conduct awareness raising, train local CSOs, Village organizations, CDCs on climate change and it affects our daily life, how to adapt ourselves to and what mitigation measures to be taken to increase climate resilience of communities. In addition to that, we established Mine Watch Committees in 10 provinces to monitor and report any social and environmental impacts of mines and advocate for increased protection of it. There are also documentaries that we made in mining sites and are available on youtube links be low. Please visit them too.   1- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp4AnBpYjlE 2- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnEmAOl17OE   Addressing environmental degradation around mines is quite relevant to HRRAC’s work. In one of our studies on involuntary relocation of communities around mines, HRRAC identified women as the most affected and vulnerable group among other species. They became dependent on men after relocation.
