Who We Are?

HRRAC Profile and History

Founded in 2003, the Human Rights Research and Advocacy Consortium (HRRAC) is an independent Afghan research organization engaged in research, advocacy and capacity-building in the areas of women's and children’s human rights, workers’ rights, security sector reform, education, justice, and public participation.

HRRAC is the first Afghan-led research organization, and remains the only woman-run organization of its kind in Afghanistan. Its widely-cited reports have informed advocacy and policy-making at domestic and international levels on issues such as disarmament, education, and free elections.

Advocacy

The key elements of our advocacy strategy are:

  • To develop new, simple and exciting advocacy products based on extensive research. This includes radio features, policy briefs, interactive media products and presentations.
  • To strategically use these products to influence key policy making events regarding Afghanistan.
  • To position Consortium members to respond effectively and speedily to advocacy opportunities as they arise.

Members

The Human Rights Research and Advocacy Consortium is a group of 7 Afghan which 2 of them are advisory member and 6 international NGOs committed to promoting peace and human rights in Afghanistan. This project is a unique initiative both for Afghanistan and for other countries emerging from conflict and insecurity. It brings together a group of organizations to systematically promote human rights through ongoing primary research, training and collective advocacy.
